How to Use the ProBlue Adhesive Melter
Congratulations, you've gotten your first ProBlue adhesive melter! This machine is one of the best models from one of the best companies in the industry. Once this melter is fully operational, your business will quickly see record-breaking efficiency and results. But you need to get it up and running first. Here's a brief overview of how to operate your machine.
- Check Out the ProBlue Manual
Every Nordson ProBlue will come with a detailed manual of how to install, operate, and maintain the machine. Whenever in doubt, this is where you should turn—the comprehensive instructions should have everything you need.
Before you start anything, check out the best practices, safety signs, and other important information at the beginning of the guide—don't just skip straight to installation. These notes could save you hours of time in setup and down the road by preventing maintenance errors.
2. Installation
ProBlue melters come in a few different varieties, such as the Problue 4, ProBlue 7, and ProBlue 10. But the installation is pretty similar for each. Once you unpack it, you'll see you need to supply your own power cable, some machine bolts, and a plant air supply with an in-line isolation valve. Once you have those, you can mount the machine. ProBlue melters have a unique mounting sub‐base that allows the melter to be easily mounted onto and removed from the parent machine or support structure, without the need to unbolt the melter.
Once mounted, you'll configure the electrical services. To avoid electrocution, install a lockable power disconnect switch between the service and the melter. Then connect the compressed air supply, hoses, and guns, along with melter inputs and outputs.
3. Operation
Even though these machines are user-friendly, only personnel with appropriate training should operate a ProBlue machine. Follow the ProBlue manual to learn how to properly take the machine through the necessary processes:
- Filling the melter tank
- Starting the melter
- Monitoring melter operation
- Adjusting the operating temperature of heated components
- Using the melter function keys
- Shutting the melter down
4. Maintenance
Once your ProBlue machine is up and running, there are some tips and tricks for keeping it in tip-top shape. The guide goes into more detail, but some key things to watch out for are relieving system pressure, cleaning the melter properly, replacing its filter, cleaning the melter's tank, and troubleshooting the system.
ProBlue machines are some of the best, so if properly installed and maintained, they can run efficiently for years to come and require little upkeep.
