Four Head Group, 24 Event, Timer and Tracker - The ET24 is a microprocessor based event timer that controls glue gap or stitch adhesive patterns at fixed or variable line speeds. Twenty-four events can be programmed in units of time or length. These events are automatically adjusted to line speeds in variable line speed applications. The ET24 accepts four input triggers and provides power output to four independent applicator head groups. Twenty pattern setups can be stored in memory when power is off.
When integrated into a Slautterback hotmelt applicator system, the ET24 controls adhesive deposition in a variety of fixed or variable speed packaging and product assembly applications. Typical applications include carton and case sealing, cap lining and labeling.
The ET24 functions according to a programmed pattern setup. A pattern setup corresponds to the adhesive deposition of up to four head groups required for a specific application.
A head group consists of one to four E100 style applicators, or up to sixteen E900 style valve modules. Input signals trigger the ET24 to activate the pattern setup, transmitting output power to the head groups. The ET24 has an integral time to length converter that allows pattern events to be set in length rather than time at fixed or variable speeds.
For tracking variable line speeds, a tach generator is coupled to the production line and conveys line speed information to the ET24. It automatically adjusts head firing so event lengths are consistently maintained at variable line speeds. The ET24 compensates for the electromechanical time delay between the signal to open or close the valve and the actual start or stop of the adhesive deposition.
A complete pattern control package consist of the ET24 and one to four photoeye sensors. A DC Driver or HD2a Head Driver increases pattern placement accuracy. For variable speeds, it requires a tach generator and may include an FC Series Flow Controller to maintain constant adhesive weight and varying line speeds.
